Distribution Maps of Early Neolithic in Central Europe and in Rhineland

The distribution of early Neolithic Bandkeramik sites is represented in two scales (central Europe and Rhineland) by detailed point distribution patterns and generalized polygons of high density areas. Location of sites is derived by digitizing published maps. Data: for central Europe from PREUSS (ed.) 1998 Map 1; for Rhineland from RICHTER / CLAßEN 1997 The method to delimit high density areas in a standardized way follows a protocol with six steps (see below point 4). This combination of methods is...

Impacts of surface boundary conditions on regional climate model simulations of European climate during the Last Glacial Maximum doi

We examine the influences of North Atlantic sea surface temperatures (SSTs) and vegetation on regional climate simulations over Europe during the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM). Simulated regional temperature and precipitation patterns over Europe are considerably improved when using revised SSTs based on proxy data. Likewise, the simulated permafrost is more accurately reproduced with the SST modifications. These improvements are partially related to the changed regional atmospheric circulation due to the...

Gravettian Hunter-Gatherer Mobility in the Basque Region, V 1.2

Preliminary comparison of geological climate proxies with GCM palaeoclimate simulations for selected locations in North Africa

Our knowledge of palaeoclimate history is mainly based on climate proxies, which can infer past climatic conditions. In North Africa, sediment proxies such as palygorskite and the kaolinite-to-chlorite ratio are usually transported as dust components. Their relative increase or decrease is indicative of an arid or humid condition respectively. Another way to understand palaeoclimate conditions is by the use of coupled atmospheric models within the Paleoclimate Modelling Intercomparison Project Phase III...

Computer Model of Forager Mobility

This is an agent based model (ABM) of forager mobility. This model is based on assumptions from Optimal Foraging Theory (OFT) and written in NetLogo. See the attached ODD Protocol for details.
