Back to the lithics: technological comparison of early Upper Palaeolithic assemblages from Al-Ansab/ Jordan, Româneşti-Dumbrăviţa/ Romania and Fumane/ Italy database SFB806 doi Spatial Temporal

The dissertation addresses the technological variability in the European and Levantine early Upper Palaeolithic (eUP). The eUP is often linked to the major dispersal event of H. sapiens into Europe and the final affirmation of our species into the Eurasian continent over the 43–38 ka cal BP timespan. The main feature is the introduction of bladelets, elongated items less than 12 mm wide, whose production processes are the hallmark for technocomplexes. The principal difference is the disassociation of blades...

Jabrud II 4 DataSet LithicAnalysis SFB806 doi

This dataset comprises the techno-typological analysis of the lithic artefact assemblage of Yabroud rock-shelter II – Layer 4. This assemblage is part of a much larger collection of lithic artefacts and bone tools excavated at different localities in Yabroud by Alfred Rust between 1930 and 1933. The Yabroud collection is housed at the Institute of Prehistoric Archaeology of Cologne University, Germany.

Looking around Peştera Cu Oase: The beginnings of Upper Paleolithic in Romania Spatial

In contrast to the widely acknowledged anthropological finds in Oase Cave and to the key geographical position of Romanian territory for the assumed dispersion of Anatomically Modern Humans in Europe, the archaeological information regarding the emergence of the Upper Paleolithic in Romania remains poorly known to a broader scientific community. The prolonged theoretical and methodological isolation of the Romanian Paleolithic research has particularly contributed to keeping the regional archaeology out...
